The B-1’s Mission Capable Rate Was Only 61.2 Percent In 2007

Thursday, Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth-Sandlin said that she is very concerned about the readiness state of the B-1 Fleet, especially in light of the accident in Iraq of the b-1 based out of Ellsworth…..

She said she believes that Ellsworth does a great job with the resources that they have regarding spare parts and maintenance. But, there’s a real concern about the Air Force’s long-term commitment……

She said that she and other members of the South Dakota delegation would be received a briefing on Thursday from the Air Force Deputy Chief of Staff of Strategic Plans and Programs on the B-1 spare parts program, the fleet mission capable rate and plans to improve maintenance.

According to a recent article in the Air Force Times, the B-1’s mission capable rate was only 61.2 percent in 2007, down from 70.7 percent in 2003.
