Herseth Sandlin Says Difficult Times Ahead

Representative Stephanie Herseth Sandlin vowed to help build a better future for South Dakotans in accepting another term in Congress Tuesday but acknowledged difficult times ahead.

She said the nation is faced with two wars, an economic crisis, health care out of reach for too many people and lack of a comprehensive energy policy.

Herseth Sandlin easily defeated Republican challenger and Rapid City businessman Chris Lien.

He said it was an honor to travel around South Dakota and visit with residents and wasn't yet sure about future political plans.
